Learning Tunisian Crochet

Recently I decided to start something using Tunisian crochet, so i bought the hooks. Then I spent a lot of time trying to figure out something easy that I could make so I could practice this new kind of crocheting. Well, that did not turn out the way I had thought.

I got a little more ambitious than I has expected. I had been wanting a frock coat for ages and so I thought why not look for a similar design that I could crochet. Well, I have found one! It is the Elf Coat design by Morale Fiber.

I love this design and so I have started making it. The yarn I’m using is slightly different from the one indicated in the pattern. I got lucky and was able to buy all that I needed in bulk. I think my version of the coat will be slightly lighter than the one in the pattern, so I will probably be using it in spring.

The piece in the featured image is just the first panel. Since my yarn is of a difference gauge than the recommended one, I am of course adjusting as I go along. I am also using a different hook. I did not have the 6.5mm, so I am using a 7mm hook, which is fine because it is working quite well with my yarn. The pattern description is so fantastic and detailed that I am not having any problems yet. It is going along well. Hopefully, the whole project will be equally doable.

Of course, I will put it up when it is finished.

Happy Crocheting!

I started crocheting in 2019 and it came in very handy during lockdown for the Covid pandemic. Now I am quite hooked and totally love it.
